The Provinces of Cavite and Laguna are growing industrial and commercial centers in the Southern Tagalog Region. However, this is causing traffic difficulty in the major road area, particularly the Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road. Read more to learn more about CALAX.
The Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) is the most expensive project lined up for the CALABARZON Region (composed of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon Provinces). As per DPWH, the total cost of the project is estimated to be 35.42 Billion Pesos. CALAX will be open for public use by 2020.
The soon-to-rise 45.29-kilometer CALAX project will pass through the towns of Kawit and Silang and the Cities of Gen. Trias, Imus, Dasmariñas in Cavite, and to the Cities of Sta. Rosa and Biñan in Laguna. The Expressway will link the Cavite-Manila Expressway (CAVITEx) and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx). It’s estimated to cut travel time between Cavite to Laguna by about an hour or 45 minutes.
CALAX could also mean more economic opportunities, especially for CALABARZON. The proposed expressway project aims to provide a faster, safer, more comfortable and reliable route, thus, enhancing trade and socio-economic activities around them.
The effect of the new transportation improvement, roads or highways, in particular, may have both positive and negative impacts on the price of housing. Improved accessibility may change housing prices upwards, whereas, higher traffic noise level and increase in traffic density may reduce rates in houses that are nearby to the new road.
For now, we can assume that this project, will give a lot of great opportunity for investing in the Real Estate Industry.
